Year 1: Summary of the class



Grammar

-We corrected exercise on irregular plurals and we did exercises 1, 2 and 3 in Grammarway 1 pages 6-7.


-We studied demonstratives this, that, these, those. Then, we did exercise C on page 11 and section 1D on page 123. Do you need more practice on demonstratives?






Vocabulary


- We revised classroom language on page 11 and we went through the copy on classroom routines language where you have a list of expressions that can help you in class.


-We learnt that we can use the verbs borrow or lend when asking for things. Since some of you confused them, why don't you click here and do the exercise?


Julia's time

Julia explained us how Americans celebrated Halloween. Then, we did some exercises to practise the vocabulary of this terrifying holiday.

Year 4: Summary of the classes


Tuesday


- Listening practice: We watched a video about a festival of concerts called the Proms. Then, SS answered a few questions about the festival and did a gap-fill exercise to learn some common English expressions.


- We started File 1C, which will help you to revise and extend your knowledge of adverbs and the vocabulary of jokes and humour, and we did activities A, B, and C on page 16.
- Julia talked us about American humour and who Americans made jokes about. Then, she told us several jokes and asked SS questions in Have you got a sense of humour? on page 17.
Thursday
-Grammar: echo questions page 17

- Listening practice: Understanding jokes page 17
- Pronunciation practice: /dʒ/,/tʃ/ page 17
-At Julia's time SS had to describe two cartoons to their partners (copy 129), who had to choose the funniest caption for each picture.

Year 4: Summary of the class


- Build your vocabulary section page 14:
In order to learn more words related to the media (TV, radio and newspapers), SS completed texts A and B on page 128. Then, we went through the vocabulary of TV and radio programmes.
-Listening practice page 14 :
SS listened to six short extracts of people giving their opinion on topics such as commercials or celebrities.
-We corrected exercises on word order/question formation photocopy 198.
- I gave the compositions back to SS.
We started classes 34 days ago, dont' you think it's time you gave me your student forms?

SS listened to a conversation between Mario, an Italian student who wanted to join a language school and the school receptionist. Then, SS completed a form with Mario's information.
